Start with an itemized inventory
A moving estimate needs more than a carton count. List furniture and personal belongings by room, identify items needing disassembly, and separate goods that require acceptance review. Photos help assess packing work; final packed measurements may differ.
- Item, quantity, condition and estimated value
- Batteries, liquids, food and fragile items listed separately
Define the physical work at both addresses
Confirm floors, lift dimensions, parking access, loading distance and whether a survey is needed. Packing, dismantling, carrying upstairs, unpacking and disposal are separate scope items; do not assume they are included in the freight charge.
- Who packs, who loads, who receives
- Delivery appointment and accessible contact
Resolve import and timing before dispatch
Personal belongings do not automatically qualify for duty relief or unrestricted import. Ask the responsible customs adviser which status and documents apply. Plan storage if you cannot receive immediately, and agree how changed dates affect charges.
- Inventory, values and recipient details match
- Written packing, storage and delivery scope
